Benefits of MSME Registration not available to Retail shop

Some benefits which are available to manufacturing and service businesses are not available to retail shop such as:

No Protection Against Delayed Payments – Under the MSME Development Act, buyers must pay MSMEs within 45 days. If they don’t pay then the expense is added to its profit as per income tax act resulting in higher tax payment. But this benefit is not available to traders.
Subsidies and Schemes – Many subsidies such as capital subsidy linked with manufacturing is not available to retail shop

The process is simple and mostly Aadhaar-based. You typically need:

Aadhaar number of proprietor/partner
PAN card
Business address details
Bank account details
GST number (if applicable)
Details of investment and turnover

Physical documents are not required to be uploaded, as data is verified through government databases.

Step-by-Step Process for Udyog Aadhaar Registration for Retail Shop

Step 1: Visit the Official Udyam Portal

Go to the government Udyam Registration website.

Step 2: Enter Aadhaar Details

Enter Aadhar number and name as per aadhar and generate aadhar otp. Authenticate via OTP linked to Aadhaar.

Step 3: Validate PAN

Select type of organisation, Enter name as per PAN, PAN number and date of birth and click on validate PAN. The PAN will be validated with income tax PAN database.

Step 4: Fill Business Information

Select whether ITR filed
Select whether GST available
Mobile and Email
Select Gender and Social category
Business name and address
Incorporation and commencement date
NIC code
No. of persons employed
Investment and turnover details would be auto fetched from filed ITR if any

Step 5: Submit Application

Submit application using mobile OTP. After submission, you will receive your Udyam Registration Number (URN).

Step 6: Download Certificate

The certificate is issued digitally and can be downloaded anytime by logging in using URN and registered mobile number or Email ID.

What are the charges for Udyog Aadhaar registration?

Is GST Mandatory for Retail Shop Udyog Aadhaar Registration?

GST is not mandatory for Udyog Aadhaar / Udyam Registration if your turnover is below the GST threshold limit. However, if you are already registered under GST, it must be linked with your Udyog Aadhaar / Udyam / MSME registration.
